The day after my last review on Feb 10th I received an email from Charles Ricci one of the owners of Benchmaster. Even though I did not buy the stand directly from them he asked that I return it to him. Clearly my review hit a nerve. I am most impressed with how they handled my situation. I sent the stand back and received a new one in return as well as a refund on my shipping cost. Note that they have a Lifetime Warranty on their product and will clearly stand behind their stuff. I now have a great stand and could not be happier with their service. From my emails with Charles I am convinced that he will resolve the issues with less than perfect products being shipped recently. If you do have an issue from my experience they will be there to do what it takes to fix it.

After reading the other reviews, I realize I should have been reading the reviews before I purchased this unit. Yes, there are not any instructions...Really?? Come on already, its not that hard to toss some instructions together. If you would have packed the unit with a little Styrofoam on each end, this would alleviate the majority of the issues. Im sending mine back because the level bubble was broke.... Sorry to break your bubble Bench Master. I was ready to purchase the table, and now Im not. Sucks, because it looked like a nice product.
It may be a great rest but I will be sending it back. First, no instructions.
After I figured out the assembly the vertical micro adjust did not work. Turns out the lock nut was just hand tightened so I needed to disassemble the unit to tighten it with a wrench.
The rear hinge bolt needs to be longer. When tightened down it does not fully extend through the nut welded to the frame which means when loosened its too easy to over do and have the bolt come out of the nut completely.
The bubble level was loose in the box. Its sticky pad was covered with crap and the fluid was gone.
The overall appearance of the unit I received was banged up. I don't think it was a customer return that was resold but the poor packing - none - means the paint gets banged up during shipping.
The silver label was crooked showing that it was just slapped on with little care.
But the biggest problem is that my narrow rifle stock slides all the way down into the rear leather pouch contacting the rough metal weld. Using this stand as received would damage my rifle stock. Maybe there is supposed to be a bottom on the leather to prevent this but without instructions and limited photos online I can not tell.
I am so disappointed. The unit I received is far from a cadillac.
I've shopped around for several different rests, and this is by far the best one. It is very heavy and sturdy, all steel construction and made in the USA. It holds the rifle very securely and you can make small adjustments with the adjustment knob. I shoot on a 200 yard range in my backyard and use it several times a month. The customer service was excellent as well. I even bought one for my father and father-in-law.
I am still looking for a set of directions for this item. What is the holdup???
